I have twenty-six years experience in all facets of software development including several years of direct experience with software process improvement, management, and leadership. My technical specialties are national defense systems and Internet application development, but I have a diverse background ranging from real-time embedded programming to business applications. I have experience in almost every facet of web development including site design, dynamic content, database connectivity, and graphics.

JOB HISTORY:

RAYTHEON, Intelligence and Information Systems, Falls Church, VA.

2005 to present – Software Technical Lead. Overseeing team of software engineers adding capability to legacy ground system software. Includes individual technical contributions. Work is in C and C++ running on UNIX.

2004 to 2005 - Process Improvement Specialist. Coaching programs in the use of new CMMI Level 3-compliant processes and gathering objective evidence of CMMI compliance for appraisal.

2002 to 2004 – Software Matrix Lead. Conducted management responsibilities for software matrix personnel. Duties included staffing programs with engineers, planning and overseeing training, mentoring software project leaders in Raytheon software processes and ensuring compliance, and supporting proposal teams in new business pursuits.

1999 to 2002 – Software Engineering Manager. Led a team of five developers in the creation of a business-to-business e-commerce web site. The site provides logistics support to military supply depots. Users can search for parts, order parts from vendors via EDI, and reconcile receipts of incoming parts. The system uses Active Server Pages to interface with an Oracle database and runs on a Windows platform.

1996 to 1999 - Division Webmaster. Oversaw creation and maintenance of division-level Intranet sites, including dynamic content.

1997 to 1999 - (Dual Role) - Chairman of Software Engineering Process Group. Headed up Software Process Improvement effort at Falls Church location. Major efforts included facilitating effort to achieve CMM Level 2, initiation of a software metrics program, and implementation and continuation of a software training program.

1991 to 1997 - Principle Software Engineer. Worked as task leader and independent software developer on software applications dealing with signal direction finding, proprietary communications protocols, control of remote search and collection receivers, and simulation of remote signals collection platforms. Work was written in C and C++ and ran on UNIX platforms.

1984 to 1991 - Senior Software Engineer. Worked as software developer on software applications dealing with signal direction finding, control of remote search and collection receivers, and mission planning and control of a gimbaled space-born telescope. Work was written in C and Fortran, and ran on UNIX or VMS platforms.

1981 to 1984 - Field Engineer. Performed maintenance and field support of a ground station for a remote signal collection facility.

1978 to 1981 - Software Engineer. Real time embedded and other real time software written in assembly language.

OTHER:

  • 1994 to Present - Active member of Toastmasters International. Attained Advanced Toastmaster - Bronze award.
  • 1998 - Received division-level Excellence Award for Leadership.
  • 2000 – Received Raytheon’s Excellence in Technology Award for contributions to my project.
